How Last Man Standing works

Last man standing is a football knockout competition. Everyone picks one team a round to win. Win and you are through; a draw or a loss and you are out — and you can only use each team once.

The rules of Last Man Standing

  1. Pick one team a round

Back a single team to win their match before the deadline.

  2. A win puts you through

A 1-0 is worth exactly what a 5-0 is worth.

  3. A draw is a loss

There is no half-credit. Your team has to win.

  4. Each team only once

Spend the strong sides early and you are picking mid-table away days by spring.

  5. Last one standing wins

It runs until one person is left.

What if you miss the deadline?

A team is picked for you at random from the ones you have left. You are never eliminated for forgetting.

What are wildcards?

One-use cards that bend a single round in your favour. They are optional — whoever sets the competition up decides whether their cup uses them, and what is in the deck is shown inside the game.

Are there points or a league table?

No. You are either still in or you are out, and everybody still in is level. Most versions of this game bolt on a points system; this one does not.

What does it cost?

Nothing. No entry fee, no subscription, no adverts. If a competition is played for money the organiser collects and pays out — no money goes through this site.
